Movie Screening and Facilitated Conversations
Movie Screening
The Right to Read shares the stories of an NAACP activist, a teacher, and two American families who fight to provide our youngest generation with the most foundational indicator of life-long success: the ability to read.
City University of Seattle will host a free screening of The Right to Read both in-person at our Tacoma campus and virtually on Wednesday, November 8th from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm PT.
Registration for the viewing is now closed, but we hope you can join us for one of our Conversation Panels.
Conversation Panels
In addition to screening the film, CityU will be hosting two virtual facilitated conversation panels. We hope you’re able to join us for these important discussions. This event is clock hour eligible! To earn three clock hours, please plan on attending both virtual facilitated conversations. If you have any questions, please contact Melissa at [email protected]

Reading Endorsement
CityU is proud to be the first university in Washington to receive accreditation for our Reading Endorsement from the International Dyslexia Association! Our Reading Endorsement draws from major theories, empirical research regarding evidence-based literacy instruction, particularly within the realm of the Science of Reading. Students can earn a Reading Endorsement as a stand-alone option, with a bachelor’s degree or with a master’s degree.
At this time, we are also providing districts with the opportunity to create their own reading endorsement cohort. Please reach out to Melissa Myers at [email protected] to learn more!
