Diversity, Inclusion & Social Justice initiative: A Message from CityU President, Randy Frisch
Dear City University Community,
The murder of George Floyd is so outrageous, so discouraging, such a painful reminder of the systemic racism that black Americans and other people of color are forced to confront daily in our country. As an organization dedicated to social justice and equity, the good work we have done toward those objectives has not been enough. We can do better.
I know many of you feel similarly. At CityU we have established a cross-functional coalition of staff, faculty, and students to work together to determine how we can do more to be present and active in advancing the causes of social justice and equity. It is part of our mission. We can do better. We will not try to pull the spotlight away from the issues confronting our country and law enforcement, but we can responsibly improve our work. Please send our coalition your thoughts and suggestions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We value the counsel CityU supporters always provide regarding the direction of CityU. As you can imagine, those in the CityU community do not always agree on all decisions or issues that face us. But in this case, I think the inhuman treatment Mr. Floyd was subjected to was so evil it can unite us to do better.
Stand with us for change.
