Have you dreamed about living abroad and experiencing different cultures, meeting new people and becoming a true citizen of the world? This dream could become a reality if you pursue a career teaching English.

Earning a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate, which is a globally recognized standard, may be your key to unlock new opportunities around the world.

Earn your TESOL certificate on your schedule

If you’re currently balancing a full-time job, but want to make the switch to become an English teacher, we have good news.

Beginning in January, CityU is offering a new mixed-mode TESOL program that includes both weekly online components and Saturday in-person class time. This format is ideal for students who work because it offers the flexibility of online coursework during the week, and the benefits of in-person instruction on the weekend. That way you can gain the experience you need without having to sacrifice your job.

CityU’s mixed-mode TESOL program is cohort-based, so students have the added benefit of learning alongside the same students throughout the duration of the program.

Kay Le, a high school teacher who earned her TESOL certificate over one summer, said, “The program is very practical. Even though there are theories you have to learn from the book, the instructors share about how to teach in classrooms practically, and I learned techniques and methods from instructors that I can use.”

Discover a new future as an English teacher

Classes in the mixed-mode TESOL program begin January 8, 2018, and will conclude in August, in time for graduates to begin their job search for the fall.
