Chemical dependency professionals are in high demand in Washington State. As such, the Department of Health has approved an alternative educational track for master’s-level licensed professionals who are interested in additional certification as chemical dependency professionals.
City University of Seattle has developed an innovative online certificate program, which will allow busy professionals to complete the required 15 college credits in a self-paced format.
The CityU Graduate Certificate in Chemical Dependency Counseling has been designed for master’s level professionals who are motivated to better meet the complex needs of clients that have both substance use and mental health issues.
If you are already credentialed at the master’s level or higher, you may qualify to complete the alternative educational requirements for the chemical dependency professional certification. Approved master’s degrees include:
- Marriage and family therapy
- Mental health counseling
- Nurse practitioner
- Osteopathic physician
- Osteopathic physician assistant
- Physician assistant
- Social work
