The Graduate Certificate in Chemical Dependency Counseling program at City University of Seattle is designed for master’s-level graduates who want to expand their knowledge and skills, taking a deeper dive into this critical field.
If you are licensed professional, this program will provide additional certification, so you can better meet the needs of your clients. Classes are offered in an online, self-paced format to accommodate your busy schedule.
Chemical dependency professionals are in high demand in Washington State. As such, the Department of Health has approved an alternative educational track for master’s-level licensed professionals who are interested in additional certification as chemical dependency experts.
City University of Seattle has developed an innovative online certificate program, which will allow busy professionals to complete the required 15 college credits in a self-paced format.
The CityU chemical dependency counselor certification has been designed for master’s level professionals who are motivated to better meet the complex needs of clients that have both substance use and mental health issues.
If you are already credentialed at the master’s level or higher, you may qualify to complete the alternative educational requirements for the chemical dependency professional certification.
Approved master’s degrees include:
- Marriage and family therapy
- Mental health counseling
- Nurse practitioner
- Osteopathic physician
- Osteopathic physician assistant
- Physician assistant
- Social work
Throughout the Graduate Certificate in Chemical Dependency Counseling program, you’ll:
- Gain an understanding the pharmacological properties and physiological effects of addictive substances
- Apply current legal and ethical guidelines related to Chemical Dependency Counseling in Washington State
- Develop conceptual knowledge and practical skills to diagnose and treat substance abuse disorders
