Meet Angel Gonzalez – CityU’s Veteran Navigator
In our continued effort to serve men and women in the military, City University of Seattle brought on a Veteran Navigator, Angel Gonzalez. Angel served in the United States Air Force for 10 years, is a proud mother of sons who are in the service, and comes from a long line of family members who have served in the military. She came to CityU as a Veteran Navigator through a grant program called AmeriCorps VetCorps and has a passion for education and for serving those who have served. When sitting down with our director of military & veteran programs, Sabrina Jones, here is what she had to tell us…
CityU: How does having a Veteran Navigator benefit veteran students at CityU?
Angel: I assist Veterans and their family members in achieving their higher educational goals through:
- Peer support and networking
- Referrals and outreach to VA Federal, WA State, WA counties and community partners
- Build awareness to staff and facility
CityU: Why did you choose CityU for your Vet Corp service?
Angel: I am excited to be CityU’s very first Veteran Navigator; my experience and background was a great match for City University of Seattle’s military and veteran program and I am looking forward to serving CityU’s veteran student community.
CityU: What are your office hours and how can you be reached?
Angel: My office hours are Monday-Thursday 10:00 a. m. to 4:00 p.m. at CityU’s Seattle Campus or by appointment. I can meet you any of our campuses through-out the state or happy to work with you by phone 206-239-4711 or email agonzalez@CityU.edu. Please call or email with any questions, I am here to help.
