As announced today, philanthropist T. Denny Sanford made a generous donation of $28 million to support expansion of the Sanford Education Programs through the National University System, of which City University of Seattle is an affiliate.
Since 2015, CityU has worked to bring the Sanford Harmony and Sanford Inspire programs to schools throughout Washington.
The Sanford Harmony program, which is being used and introduced to more than 55 schools in Washington, is a social emotional learning curriculum that teaches students in preschool through sixth grades how to be more empathetic, respectful and inclusive.
The Sanford Inspire program offers professional development trainings for teachers in order to equip them with skills to engage and motivate their students. It is currently being used in three Washington school districts for teacher support and retention programs and in more than 20 districts as part of CityU’s statewide clock hour program.
The Sanford Institute of Philanthropy at City University of Seattle, which is currently being rolled out, will provide educational and professional fundraising resources to nonprofit leaders and volunteers in Western Washington.
