Faculty and Staff Participate in Walk for Rice

The Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS) is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization offering a broad array of human services and behavioral health program to Asian Pacific Americans in King County.

This year, more than 20 faculty and staff from City University of Seattle participated in the 24th Annual ACRS Walk for Rice, a fundraising event featuring a 2.5 mile walk/run. Held on June 28th, the event averages over 1,000 participants who work to raise money, as well as buy rice and other foods, for the ACRS Food Bank.

CityU’s team spent the last several weeks gathering donations of rice and other foods from their peers around the University, and worked towards a goal of $500 in donations for the fundraiser. They blew their goal away by raising over $1,500 for the ACRS, while the event itself raised over $180,000 this year.

The team was extremely pleased with the event as a whole, and everyone spoke glowingly about their experience. They’re already looking forward to next year, and hope to top their contribution when it rolls around next June.
