Working With Trauma Survivors: Providing Trauma-Informed Care and Trauma Therapy

Janet Brodsky, LICSW, will lead a workshop at CityU to outline the core components of trauma-informed care and how practitioners can address trauma and violence history in clients.

This workshop will be applicable to work in counseling, human services and healthcare, and will cover the primary components of trauma-informed care, including:

  • understanding the impacts of traumatic experiences,
  • recognizing the signs and symptoms of trauma in clients,
  • understanding policies and procedures that integrate knowledge of trauma and that seek to avoid re-traumatization, and
  • understanding the importance of a safe physical and emotional space that accommodates the vulnerabilities of trauma survivors.
