CityU in China
Since 1996 City University of Seattle has offered degree programs in China, including the Master of Business Administration, the Bachelor of Arts in Management (Logistics) and the Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems. CityU also offers opportunities for students in China to complete their degrees at CityU’s headquarters in Seattle.
City University of Seattle has offered its Master in Business Administration in Beijing, China since 1996 and has more than 2,000 alumni in China. The MBA program in Beijing provides an education avenue to professionals who are unable to travel to the U.S. to earn the degree. Through an innovative executive-style format, CityU faculty members from the U.S. travel to Beijing to deliver instruction.
Since 2011, CityU has offered educational programs in Shenzhen including the Bachelor of Arts in Management (Logistics) and the Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems. Shenzhen is located across the water from Hong Kong. Through an agreement, students in Shenzhen can study one year of CityU’s bachelor programs in-country and complete the fourth year at CityU’s home campus in downtown Seattle.
Together, CityU and the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) offer an MBA program designed for professionals in China who wish to earn a U.S. degree. This unique program is taught by both CityU and UIBE professors.
Founded in 1951 and formerly called Beijing Institute of Foreign Trade. In May 1997, UIBE was put on a list of universities for Project 211 – a governmental program aimed at converting about 100 Chinese universities into world-renowned, high-quality academic institutions in 21st century. In 2000, UIBE became a state university under the leadership of the Ministry of Education, and that June, merged with China Institute of Finance.
Since 2011 CityU has offered educational programs at Shenzhen Polytechnic in Shenzhen, China. Students at Shenzhen Polytechnic can enroll in CityU’s Bachelor of Arts in Management (Logistics) and Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems. This partnership allows students to complete their fourth year of a bachelor’s degree at CityU’s home campus in Seattle.
Shenzhen Polytechnic was founded in 1993 and was recently ranked as China’s No. 1 polytechnic college in China. The college is co-administrated by Guangdong Provincial Government and Shenzhen Municipal Government and is a full-time institution of higher learning in applied technique and management. Within Shenzhen Polytechnic, there are 13 schools that include 92 specialties.
Wuhan University and CityU have a degree completion agreement that allows students to start a Master of Business Administration in China and transfer to CityU to complete their MBA in Seattle. Wuhan University was founded in 1893 and is a national key comprehensive university with teaching disciplines in philosophy, economics, law, sciences, engineering, medicine, and management, among others.
In addition, City University of Seattle has an agreement with Changchun University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) is a relatively new comprehensive university in northern China. CUFE has an enrollment of more than 12,000 students studying fields such as business, law, and technology. Through a partnership between CityU, CUFE and Vysoka Skola Financni a Spravni (a longtime CityU partner in the Czech Republic), students have an opportunity to earn three degrees – one from China, one from the Czech Republic, and one from the U.S.
