CityU Participates in Higher Education Summit at Joint Base Lewis-McChord

City University of Seattle President Richard Carter will participate on a panel of experts today to discuss higher education issues concerning active and veteran military personnel.

The Service Member for Life – Transition Summit, presented by the Washington Military Alliance, will bring together key players from state and federal agencies, private enterprises, and military branches, and focus discussion on transition initiatives that prepare, educate and link servicemen and women. Today’s event, held at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, will feature speakers like Washington Governor Jay Inslee, and U.S. Senator Patty Murray, among many others.

President Carter will join a panel of college and university administration officials to address questions surrounding President Obama’s university ranking system, performance-based learning and transitions into higher education.

CityU is known for its strong ties with the local military community, and GI Jobs recognized it as a military friendly school several years in a row. In 2013 CityU answered Governor Inslee’s call to action in Executive Order 13-01 by initiating a $100,000 Transitioning Veteran Scholarship.
