CityU and Universidad Autonóma de San Luis Potosi Launch FIRST Online+Onsite Course at UASLP
On March 7th, 2013, City University of Seattle and Universidad Autonóma de San Luis Potosi (UASLP), CityU’s partner in San Luis Potosi, launched the first “mix mode” course at UASLP. Mix mode courses are courses offered online and onsite. By offering these courses at UASLP, students will have greater flexibility and opportunity to earn their bachelor’s degree; and will have more face-face contact with faculty. According to Corolina Doreste, a current Bachelor of Arts in Management student at UASLP and CityU, “I enjoy my CityU online courses, however, having a faculty member on campus brings a different dynamic to class as there are lively course discussions and direct interaction with the professor.”
The UASLP Rector and School of Engineering Dean, Manuel Fermin Villar Rubio, Mtro. Jorge Perez Gonzalez, and CityU’s Assistant Provost for International Education, Antonio Esqueda, inaugurated these hybrid courses by hosting a celebration at UASLP.
The first CityU faculty member to travel to UASLP to teach onsite and online is Cynthia Meuchel. She was nominated and assigned to teach a Bachelor of Science in Management course called, “The Effective Organization.” This course will be taught to 20 students.
