CITY UNIVERSITY OF SEATTLE’S SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT CURRICULA SECURES NATIONAL RECOGNITION AND CNSS CERTIFICATION

BELLEVUE, WA. – Today, City University of Seattle became one of four schools in the state of Washington to offer curricula that has been certified by The Information Assurance Courseware Evaluation (IACE) Program of the National Security Agency/Central Security Service (NSA/CSS). This certification will allow CityU of Seattle to award students completing a Master of Science in Information Security, and a specialty within the Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems, with a CNSS certification.

The IACE Program thoroughly assesses commercial, government and academic sources against national standards set by the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS). IACE standards provide consistency in training and education across institutions. Their assessment and review assures critical skills and information is being taught to students, so national security is upheld. This certification demonstrates that the coursework being taught at CityU maps directly to CNSS National Standards.

According to Dr. Kurt Kirstein, Provost of CityU’s School of Management, “City University of Seattle has long been committed to offering relevant education to students to help them excel in their careers. The CNSS certification provides evidence to top employers that students have completed a premier certification program in information security that is recognized by industry and the United States government. This certification will enable our students to pursue new career opportunities. I’m delighted the courses in our Master of Science in Information Security and the Information Security emphasis of our Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems were deemed worthy of the CNSS certification.”

The official certificate will be awarded to CityU at the 16th annual Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education. Find out more about CityU’s Master of Science in Information Security program. Find out more about CityU’s Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems program.
