Students from Everett Meet with Counterparts in Mexico
Special Education students and instructors from City University of Seattle’s Everett location met with Special Education students from Universidad Popular Autonoma Del Estando de Puebla (UPAEP) and public school teachers from Puebla, Mexico. The two groups spoke to each other over a video conference call.
Stephen Smith, Director of Special Education at CityU, has been working with Alberto Lopez from UPAEP on a program that prepares teachers to work with special education programs, a groundbreaking development in Mexico. The students on the call from UPAEP will be the first group to graduate from this new degree program. The teachers on the call from Puebla were from public schools that the UPAEP program is working with to expand their reach in Mexico.
The topics discussed during the call included the intricacies of working with students with Attention deficit Disorder and Autism in the general education classroom.
