Student Profile: Kristina Moller, M.Ed. in Adult Education with TESOL Certificate
by Libbie Stellas, Enrollment Advisor at CityU
Kristina Moller knew she wanted to travel but she also knew she didn’t want to be a ‘tourist’. In college she had the opportunity to go to Thailand twice to travel and spend time teaching English to children. She was set on a path that grows even today.
After her first experiences, Kristina chose to travel to Korea after college. There, she taught English in two elementary schools and loved it. Returning to the US, she taught international college age students in an Intensive English Program before moving to Seattle. She liked working with international students and took a position in the International Student Office at City University of Seattle. While she loves her work and the students she helps, teaching is her first love.
City University of Seattle’s Masters of Education in Adult Education with an emphasis in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is providing her with a way to develop her knowledge and move her teaching skills to a higher level. It is opening possibilities for Kristina to teach at the college level in the US and abroad that were not available with her bachelor’s degree. She chose CityU’s program because it is online, flexible, challenging, and allows her to continue working while gaining her Master’s degree.
Where will it take her? Perhaps to a US International English program at a college or University, perhaps back to Korea to teach at the university level, perhaps to grow in her advising role and teach at City University. Right now Kristina is happy learning and working towards her degree in a program that meets her needs and goals.
