Lunar New Year Celebration at CityU’s New Campus
Every year, City University of Seattle students and staff celebrate the Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year. This year’s celebration was particularly special for all of us since it was held for the first time in our downtown campus that opened its doors in January.
The CityU community was welcomed in a room traditionally decorated in red where the Chinese Art of Painting and Calligraphy Training Group shared their work with us. The director of the art group, Professor Hongduan Yang , is an alumnus of CityU. During the event, guests were entertained by Chinese New Year’s music, viewing the paintings, learning about calligraphy, and receiving personal New Year’s wishes. Everyone also enjoyed traditional Chinese dishes such as chicken with hot chili sauce, chow mein, fried rice, and fortune cookies provided by a local Chinese restaurant.
Thanks to all of our guests for taking part, bringing food, and taking part in CityU’s Chinese New Year’s celebration!
