At CityU, much of our focus revolves around providing the best education for our students, in a format and schedule that fits busy lives. But beyond that, a big part of what we do as a member of the Seattle community involves showing support for worthwhile causes that have an impact on the people and groups within our community. This is why City University of Seattle is thrilled to be participating in the 26th Annual Walk for Rice on Saturday, June 25.
What Is the Walk for Rice?
The Walk for Rice is a fundraiser benefiting the Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS), a non-profit organization serving Asian-Americans, Pacific Islanders and other underserved populations in Washington State. ACRS has been in operation since 1973 and provides emergency food services, mental health services, citizenship services, drug addiction treatment, and much more. The Walk for Rice raises funds for the ACRS Food Bank, which helps provide food that is catered to Asian and Pacific Islander diets.
About the Walk for Rice
The Walk for Rice is only 2.5 miles long, making it accessible for virtually all ages, ability levels, and even pets. If you did not have a chance to pre-register, Day-Of registration opens at Seward Park at 8 a.m.
Walkers can expect a full morning of events with pre-walk performances by the International Lion Dance & Martial Arts Team and the Seattle Chinese Community Drill Team, and live music by Theory of Change after the walk. More information about Walk logistics, such as what to expect and where to park can be found in the FAQ.
Join CityU in the Walk for Rice
CityU is looking forward to participating in this annual event again in 2016. Last year, we raised more than $3,700, so naturally, we’re hoping to beat that dollar amount this year! If you’d like to join us this year, please visit our Walk for Rice team page for more information. If you can’t join us this year, there are other ways to support the ACRS by donating, volunteering, or attending one of the many other ACRS fundraising events.
Please join City University of Seattle in showing your support for ACRS and our community as a whole, and join us at Walk for Rice 2016!
