CityU 2017 graduates

Highlights from CityU’s 42nd commencement

City University of Seattle proudly celebrated the accomplishments of its graduates during commencement on June 17 at Seattle’s Key Arena. A total of 489 students from multiple countries participated in the ceremony.

Guest speaker Kelly Maloney, the president and CEO of Aerospace Futures Alliance, shared about her career journey. She encouraged graduates to take on challenges that stretch and grow them, to be themselves and own their spaces in the world, and to live their decades well.

Student speaker David Hinojosa, who graduated with a Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling, shared about his passion for helping children. He encouraged his fellow graduates to work to become role models for kids, regardless of where their careers and futures take them.

The graduating class of 2017 is a truly accomplished group. Among them were active duty military members, the first graduate from the university’s new Master of Science in Healthcare Administration, a career changer, a 72-year-old degree completer, five doctoral graduates and many others.

Hundreds of guests attended the ceremony (while hundreds more viewed live online) and watched their family members and friends cross the finish line and receive their degrees.

Congratulations to the graduating class of 2017! At CityU, we’re all about the finish, and we couldn’t be prouder of your success.
