CityU Faculty Published in The Professional Counselor Journal

counsleingThomas Field, a Program Coordinator for the Master of Arts in Counseling Program at City University of Seattle was published in The Professional Counselor Journal (TPC), the official, peer-reviewed, electronic journal of the National Board for Certified Counselors and Affiliates, INC. Thom, who’s been published in a variety of different journals, is finishing his Ph.D. and joined CityU in January after spending more than two years as an Adjunct Graduate Instructor at James Madison University in Virgina.

Thom’s article is titled “Integrating Left-Brain and Right-Brain: The Neuroscience of Effective Counseling” and was published in the The Professional Counselor Volume 4. The piece speaks to Thom’s interest in this topic and is based primarily in what he’s observed while in the field of counseling. He takes particular interest in the need to balance the logical left brain aspects of counseling with the creative and intuitive aspects of the right brain, both of which he finds integral in the therapeutic process.

Thom will also be co-presenting next week at the annual Hawaii ACA Conference, specifically two 6-hour pre-conference learning institutes titled The Impact of the Affordable Care Act on Counseling Services and Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Adolescents.
