Children’s Literacy Expert Speaks at CityU
Renowned expert on children’s literacy Dr. Tim Rasinski will speak at CityU on Monday, May 4 at 6PM at our Seattle campus.
After a CityU Master in Teaching candidate contacted Dr. Rasinski to use his work in her research project, Dr. Rasinski offered to present at CityU about children’s literacy. He will speak to students about foundational reading skills – word knowledge and fluency.
“This is an incredible opportunity for our CityU candidates and faculty to hear this internationally known expert in literacy,” said Academic Program Director Sue Seiber. “I have had the privilege of attending several presentations from Dr. Rasinski and have been captivated by his enthusiasm, energy, sense of humor and engaging presentations. I clearly remember one session where several hundred reading teachers were being led in song as he demonstrated strategies for developing fluency.”
Dr. Rasinski is an expert in fluency, word knowledge, word recognition, and comprehension. More information about him is available here.
This presentation is open to the public.
