ACTFL Workshops Coming to CityU

ACTFL Workshops Coming to CityU

By WAL Staff

Here at WAL, we are proud to announce that we were selected to host a Summer Institute for the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). The Proficiency and Performance Summer Institute will be at City University of Seattle from June 21-24, 2018. It consists of four workshops to train foreign language teachers in oral proficiency assessment.

We are expecting up to 200 teacher participants from all over the United States and as many as 75 volunteer interviewees on campus. In the spirit of continuous professional growth, 15 of our own faculty members are attending a workshop. Workshops will be conducted for teachers of Chinese (Mandarin), English, French, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish. There will also be mixed language sections for teachers of other languages.

Sessions will take place on the Seattle campus from Thursday through Sunday. If you are on campus, please join us in welcoming our guests to CityU!

Finally, if you want to get involved, we are still recruiting intermediate/advanced language students as volunteer interviewees! If you are a non-native speaker of English, Japanese, Korean, or Spanish and would like to volunteer an hour of your time on June 23 or 24 to be interviewed, please contact Lauren Feng as soon as possible.
