Chancellor’s Communications – October 2016

Chancellor Cunningham at CETYS
Chancellor Cunningham presents at CETYS University International Seminar on Innovation in Higher Education

Building and strengthening our CityU community has been a top priority for me, and part of how we do that is through consistent communication and celebrating the many advances and developments that make us such a great University. As such, I am thrilled to kick off the first edition of our CityU Newsletter. This monthly communication will keep you up-to-date on the wonderful developments in our University community.

I am particularly proud of the work put into developing our 2020 Strategic Framework for our entire National University System (NUS) of universities and institutions. As we talk more about the System, I’d like to take a moment to explain it in more detail. The National University System is a network of accredited nonprofit educational institutions serving higher education and K-12 students. The System is comprised of:

Connected by shared values of service and community, the affiliates of the National University System serve students in ways that meet their individual needs through accessibility to high-quality, innovative programs. As Chancellor, I will be focusing my attention on creating more fluid pathways for students to pursue professional and terminal degrees across our institutions.

As we grow as a System, I am excited to be working with collaborative leaders such as newly named president of City University of Seattle, Randy Frisch.  President Frisch and I recently traveled to CETYS University to discuss our collaborative partnership and celebrate the University’s 55th anniversary.  I look forward to working with President Frisch to expand community and global partnerships to provide more opportunities for our University community and to deliver an exceptional student experience, which is something we encourage at all of our National University System affiliates.
