CityU Alumni Spotlight: Linh Hoang

Meet Linh Hoang! Linh is a recent CityU graduate. She graduated in 2019 with her MBA with an emphasis in Marketing. While at CityU, Linh joined a number of different student clubs and activities that helped her to grow both personally and professionally. She credits CityU with helping to give direction to her career goals and helping her to get her current job at Amazon. Her time at CityU also helped her to break out of her comfort zone and by trying new things and meeting new people. Watch the video below to hear Linh’s story.

When I graduated, I had no idea what I would like to do. I only knew that I wanted to work for my dream company, one of the big five. I think CityU helped me to fulfill this dream with the MBA program and with the activities, with the Enactus team. That’s why I got an offer to work at Amazon.

My name is Linh Hoang and I got my MBA with an emphasis in Marketing in 2019. And after I got out of school, I got a job at Amazon as a Legal Program Analyst.

What I really like about this program is that I had opportunities to work with a lot of professors who have years of experience in the business field and, also, I had a lot of opportunities to see friends from different cultures, different places in the world.

I can tell you that I improved a lot with my communication skills. I was a really shy girl before and then, when I joined CityU, I had a chance to see so many people and work in different types of activities for the students, which helped me to step out of my comfort zone. I feel a lot more confident now that I have finished the program. Because of a lot of opportunities to work with the professors, with friends, with faculty members at school, and also I joined activities, competitions, and now that I’ve finished the MBA degree, I feel like, yes, I am confident enough to apply for a job anywhere; I can go anywhere right now.
