SEATTLE, Dec. 6, 2017 – In recognition of City University of Seattle’s recruitment and support of military students, the university was named a 2018 Military Friendly® School by Victory Media.
CityU is committed to serving military members and their families. The university offers reduced military tuition, credit for prior learning experience, and partners with organizations dedicated to aiding service members.
“CityU is proud to serve those who have served, are still serving and their families,” said Lana Lee, CityU’s senior director of military and community college relations. “We love working with service members and veterans as they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our campuses and classrooms.”
The Military Friendly® Schools list is created each year based on extensive research using public data sources for more than 8,800 schools nationwide, input from student veterans, and responses to the proprietary, data-driven Military Friendly® Schools survey from participating institutions. The survey questions, methodology, criteria and weighting were developed with the assistance of an independent research firm and an advisory council of educators and employers. Data calculations and tabulations were independently evaluated for completeness and accuracy by Ernst & Young.
This year, more than 1,300 schools nationwide participated with 849 earning the designation. Final ratings were determined by combining schools’ survey scores with the assessment of institutions’ ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students and, specifically for student veterans.
