When is Commencement?
Saturday, June 14, 2008 (Be sure to R.S.V.P. to Graduation@cityu.edu)

What time does the ceremony start?
1:00 pm

Where is it held?
Seattle Center Key Arena
First Ave. N. between Thomas and Republic Streets.

When do I need to be there?
Doors open at 11:00 am. Graduates need to arrive by 11:30 am and be lined up for the processional no later than 12:30 pm.

Where do I get tickets?
No tickets are required.

How many guests can I invite?
As many as you want. Key Arena has enough seating for all.

How much does it cost?
There is no cost to attend Commencement.

Do I need to submit a Final Degree Audit Application and pay the $100 fee even if I am not attending Commencement?
Yes. Submitting the FDAA is required to have your degree printed on your transcript, and to receive a diploma. The deadline to submit the FDAA if attending Commencement was February 15 in order to guarantee processing of all paperwork and student notification of any missing requirements. If you have not already done so, please submit your FDAA immediately.

Where do I get my cap and gown?
Order directly from Jostens.

How do I find out about my cap and gown order after I have submitted the order?
Contact Jostens' customer service directly at: 1.800.854.7464 (U.S.). In Canada, call 1.800.563.7603.

Where can I park?
There are several parking areas in the vicinity of the Key Arena; parking fees are the graduating student's responsibility.

There are several entrances at the Key Arena. Which one should I use?
Graduating students and guests should enter at the West entrance on First Ave. North (by the Sonics Team Shop and Ticket Booth).

I am graduate student graduating with Presidential Honors. Do I get special recognition?
Yes. When your name is called, the reader announces that you are graduating with presidential honors. When you get to Key Arena, you should make sure that your name card is gold, and see the Help Desk with any questions.

I am an undergraduate student graduating with undergraduate honors. Do I get special recognition?
You will be given a special cord to wear, signifying the type of honor you have achieved (summa cum laude, magna cum laude or cum laude), and the Commencement booklet will have a notation describing the significance of the honor cords.

How long will the ceremonies last?
Approximately two hours.

What color will my tassels and gown be?
This year all tassels will be in school colors rather than in degree colors, as in the past. Gowns are black. Masters' degree hoods will reflect the degree colors.
