Is this program for me?
If you are a certified teacher and wish to qualify as "Highly Qualified" in Middle Level Humanities (4-9)
teaching Language Arts, Social Studies or "Block Schedule" to students in grades 4-9, this program is
for you. This program is offered online so you can earn your endorsement, without interrupting your
career (or spending time driving to class.)

What will I learn?
The Middle Level Humanities (4-9) endorsement program will provide you with the knowledge and tools needed
to teach Language Arts or Social Studies curriculum to a diverse population of students in grades 4-9.
This program is designed to meet the new OSPI requirements.

What can I do with my endorsement?
Upon successful completion of this program and the WEST-E* exam, you will qualify for a Washington State
Endorsement in Middle Level Humanities (4-9) and for "Highly Qualified" status. Endorsements are an important
part of a career advancement path that can provide you with expanded opportunities and options in the field of education.

Note: Washington State also has reciprocity with over 40 other states however, if you are not a Washington
teacher, please check with your state for approval prior to taking this program.

- Complete a CityU Application
- Complete Endorsement Program Application and an "Agreement of Understanding" for the endorsement you are seeking.
- Request Official Transcripts
- Submit a copy of your teaching certificate
