City University of Seattle's M.I.T. with Teacher Certification degree program is designed for individuals
who wish to pursue a rewarding career teaching elementary or middle school students.
If you have already earned a bachelor's in another major but do not have a teaching certificate, these
innovative programs provide a career transition path that can get you into the classroom sooner than
you think. To better fit your life, CityU offers the M.I.T. degree in either a one year or two year format.

What can I do with my degree?
Upon completion of the program, you will be prepared to teach elementary or middle school students in
Washington public schools and in other schools that require the Washington residency certificate.
Additional opportunities include teaching jobs in other states and overseas, substitute teaching, eligibility
to pursue additional endorsements, private sector work, and consultant work in private or government agencies
that support public education.

The one year program starts in the spring and is an intense full-time (M-F) daytime program that lasts 4 quarters. The two year classes are held every Saturday and there are also weekday internships required every other quarter. Both programs conclude with 14 weeks of student teaching.
A passing grade for the Washington State WEST-E exam is required of all teacher candidates before Master Degree and certification are awarded.
