Is this program for me?
We offer three separate programs in Guidance & Counseling to provide you with the choice and flexibility
you need to achieve your career goals: Our M.Ed. program with an emphasis in guidance and counseling;
the emphasis plus teacher professional certification; and our most popular program, which is designed for
individuals who wish to work as school counselors in Washington State public schools and earn their
Educational Staff Associate (ESA) School Counselor Certification.
|
What will I learn?
Our program is based on the American School Counselor Association National Model and will empower you with
the knowledge and skills you need to promote student success in the school, home or community. This model
includes: individual student planning; small group and classroom presentation skills; consultation with
staff, families, and community resource providers; and systems support.
|
What can I do with my degree?
Complete the program with the ESA certificate and you will be qualified to work as a school counselor in
the state's public K-12 school system. The knowledge and skills you gain are transferable to many other
human services roles as well; you may seek employment at private agencies, community colleges and
independent schools.
