Is this certificate program for me?
City University of Seattle’s Academic ESL certificate program prepares non-native speakers of English
(and students who have not met the English proficiency requirement) for all undergraduate and language
assisted graduate programs. If you wish to improve your English skills (writing, speaking, listening,
grammar, sentence structure) so that you may enter/be more successful in your CityU courses, this
program is for you.
|
What will I learn?
Our program will provide you with the linguistic tools you need for success in a degree-bearing
program. Upon completion, you will have improved your academic reading and writing skills, as well
as your abilities to better comprehend lectures, think critically, and verbally express your ideas.
|
What can I do with my certificate?
Six levels of ESL are offered. Completion of level six grants the Academic ESL certificate and
satisfies the English proficiency requirement for City University of Seattle undergraduate and
language assisted MBA (AMBA) programs. After level six, you will not be required to take any
additional English placement tests.
