Professional Certification for Principals and Program Administrators
Is this program for me?
Our program is designed to enhance and refine the leadership skills of working Washington State
principals, assistant principals, and district-level administrators who wish to meet state
requirements for advanced professional certification. City University’s unique four-quarter program
is convenient, flexible, and job embedded. Its dynamic and interactive seminars are held quarterly
on Saturdays in regionally accessible locations. If you are an administrator with two or more years
of experience and hold residency administrator certification issued after September 2004, this
program is for you. New lower price!

What will I learn?
The major goals of this program are to (a) prepare you for professional principal or program
administrator certification, (b) provide you with leadership coaching and support, and (c) increase
your career opportunities—all in the most efficient and convenient manner possible.
Upon successful completion of this program, you will be well equipped with the knowledge you need to help transform
education in our nation’s schools and propel your career forward as an effective leader.
All assessments (including the POLE 360° Assessment administered by the Center for Educational
Effectiveness) are designed to help you evaluate your own leadership competencies and are completed
on a pre- and post-basis. Your personalized Professional Growth Plan (PGP) and electronic portfolio
are aligned with state certification and the national Interstate School Leadership Licensing Consortium (ISLLC Standards).

Admission Requirements

- Completed CityU application
- Current WA State Residency Certificate for Principal or Program Administrator
- Two years as principal, assistant principal, or program administrator
- A letter of application
- Two letters of recommendation from current supervisor and district administrator
- Minimum of 3.0 GPA in master degree program and residency certificate programs
