Is the Professional Certification for Principals and Program Administrators program for me?

If you're a school administrator who received your residency administrator certificate in Washington state after September 2004 and you want to earn your advanced professional certification, this is the program for you. It's convenient, flexible and you can finish in four quarters.

What will I learn in the Professional Certification for Principals and Program Administrators program?

First, you will obtain your professional certificate. Second, you will assess and plan for your own professional development. Six graduate credits earned through this program can be applied to the CityU superintendent certificate program and/or the Doctor of Education concentration in educational leadership.

Admission Requirements

  • Completed CityU application
  • Current WA State Residency Certificate for Principal or Program Administrator (submit a copy of both sides)
  • Two years as principal, assistant principal, or program administrator
  • A letter of application
  • One letter of recommendation from current supervisor and district administrator
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA in master degree program and residency certificate programs
