Professional Certificate for Administrators: Superintendent Certification

Program Details

City University of Seattle’s accredited graduate-level Professional Certificate for Administrators with Superintendent Certification gives professional educators the necessary skills and experience to complete their Superintendent Initial Administrator Certification.

Through a mix of coursework, seminars, academies and internships, candidates learn how to lead school systems according to state and national standards. Graduates develop the critical thinking and negotiation skills they’ll need to be effective leaders who can develop and sustain meaningful education reform.

Over the course of the program, our distinguished faculty of experienced administrators coach candidates through learning, offering standards-based feedback for a performance-based certification portfolio.

Effective In-Class and Online Learning

CityU of Seattle's superintendent certification program takes five quarters to complete, usually starting and ending in summer quarter. The program incorporates elements of online education into a basis of cohort learning. Each cohort, or professional learning community, will provide students with a foundation of support, networking, problem solving and collective reflection throughout and after the program. Connect with a CityU advisor to learn more.

Where CityU Can Take You

Upon completion of the program, graduates achieve superintendent certification by demonstrating proficiency in the standards set by the Professional Educator Standards Board based on the Interstate School Leadership Licensure Consortium (ISLCC). CityU supports candidates throughout their job search and advancement to their next leadership role.

Graduates can also choose to continue towards their formal education and apply 30 credits earned in this program directly toward CityU's Doctor of Education in Leadership degree.
