Bachelor of Arts in Education with Teacher Certification

Is this program for me?
City University of Seattle's regionally accredited B.A.Ed. with Teacher Certification program is designed for individuals who have some college credits and wish to pursue a rewarding career in teaching. CityU of Seattle has one of the few programs that allows you the option of earning an Elementary K-8 Endorsement, a Special Education K-12 Endorsement or BOTH while you earn your bachelors degree.

What will I learn?
The Elementary (K-8) program will provide you with the knowledge and tools needed to teach core curriculum to a diverse population of elementary and middle school children. Subjects covered include: Math, Science, Reading and Literacy, Social Studies and Health. The Special Education (K-12) program combines traditional education training with a focus on classes that prepare you to assist children with special needs.

What can I do with my degree?
Become a teacher! Upon completion of this program and any state required exams, you will be prepared to teach students grade K-8 and/or special education students grades K-12 in Washington State public or private schools. You may also be able to teach in other states that honor the Washington residency certificate. Additional opportunities include short-or long-term substitute teaching and eligibility to pursue additional endorsements, or graduate level degrees.

Why CityU?
Our full-time program is designed to be flexible, so you can study without sacrificing your career. Typically, you'll meet for class just two evenings a week, plus Saturdays.
