Diversity at CityU
Quality Education for All
City University of Seattle is committed to providing a variety of educational opportunities to a diverse population and
incorporating an international, global perspective in our programs.
Our commitment to building better communities worldwide is served through sites in Canada, Europe, and through the
formation of international partnerships in countries such as China, Mexico, Greece, Bulgaria, and the Czech Republic.
In addition, the university hosts more than 350 international students in the U.S. and Canada who choose to pursue their
studies in North America. Each year, we enable thousands of students worldwide to access quality education.
Statement on Diversity
Our goal is to help shape an inclusive educational community open and supportive of our staff and our students
from all walks of life. In addition, we must prepare our staff and our students to thrive professionally and
personally in an increasingly diverse society. To achieve these goals, a President's Council on Diversity has
been formed, and is currently working to integrate key diversity initiatives into City University of Seattle's strategic plan.
The Council is comprised of students, faculty, staff and administrators.
The role of the Council is to serve as an advisory and resource body to the President's Office, assessing the needs of
the campus community and developing initiatives to achieve those goals. The Council will establish an organizational
diversity vision and identify goals to achieve that vision. Because the Council seeks to ensure inclusive processes,
they will regularly seek your input.
We must work diligently to move from inclusion and tolerance to a genuine understanding and appreciation of the different
and unique contributions that all groups and perspectives can bring to this University. We have an institutional
responsibility to establish and promote campus values that reflect a fundamental respect for one another because of our
differences, not in spite of them. The Council welcomes your interest and active participation in helping City University of Seattle
achieve those values.
