University of International Business and Economics (UIBE)

Together, City University of Seattle and UIBE offer an MBA program designed for Chinese managers who wish to earn an American degree while actively engaged in their professions. This unique program is taught in partnership between CityU and UIBE professors.

Founded in 1951 and formerly called Beijing Institute of Foreign Trade, UIBE was first designated a key university by the Chinese government in 1960 for its outstanding academic programs. In May 1997, UIBE was put on a list of universities for “Project 211” - a governmental program aimed at converting about 100 Chinese universities into world-renowned, high-quality academic institutions in the 21st century. In 2000, UIBE became a state university under the leadership of the Ministry of Education, and that June, merged with China Institute of Finance.
