What is Mendeley?

It is important to keep track of your sources so you can use them when you need to for assignments. This guide provides a quick introduction to Mendeley, a free online research and citation tool that allows you to:

• Manage sources and create bibliographies in MS Word and OpenOffice
• Choose your citation style, including APA
• Access your saved sources and references from anywhere online
• Import sources from other research software, such as EndNote or Zotero
• Access your sources via the iPhone/iPad app
• Easily synchronize Mendeley Web and Mendeley Desktop

Additionally, you can join or create groups to:

• Network and collaborate with other scholars
• Annotate sources and share your notes with colleagues or peers
• Share papers of interest and your own scholarly work with colleagues or peers

Steps to Get Started

1. Go to the Mendeley homepage
2. Sign up and download Mendeley Desktop (supports Windows, Mac, Linux)
3. Install the Web Importer on your favorite Web browser (check the FAQs for a list of currently supported browsers)
4. Download the guide Getting started with Mendeley (Requires Flash)
5. Learn to Use Mendeley (free storage up to 1GB)
