About University of International Business and Economics
Founded in 1951 and formerly called Beijing Institute of Foreign Trade, UIBE was first designated a key university by the Chinese government
in 1960 for its outstanding academic programs. In May 1997, UIBE was put on a list of universities for Project 211 — a governmental program
aimed at converting about 100 Chinese universities into world-renowned, high-quality academic institutions in 21st century. In 2000, UIBE
became a state university under the leadership of the Ministry of Education, and that June, merged with China Institute of Finance. Since
that time, UIBE has become a leader in economics, business management and finance. Since its establishment, UIBE has been committed to
putting a high emphasis on academic research and business practice to prepare students to work in the areas of business, economics, finance,
foreign trade, foreign languages, etc.
UIBE consists of numerous academic schools, departments and research centers, offering over 1,440 undergraduate classes, 780 postgraduate
classes, and 68 doctoral programs. At present, UIBE has a total enrollment of more than 11,000 students from China and 102 countries.
It also has 730 teaching faculty and 1,505 administrative staff members. With China as a backdrop, UIBE projects an image of internationalization
