Five reasons to live at Cornish Commons

It’s no surprise that where you live has a large impact on your day-to-day life. As a student, it impacts your commute to work and school, when and where you study and more. That is why City University of Seattle is pleased to offer students the opportunity to live in a community with fellow students at a convenient location in the heart of Seattle: Cornish Commons.

Cornish Commons is a shared residence hall between CityU and Cornish College of the Arts. The residence hall has 20 floors and a variety of amenities including common lounges, music and dance rehearsal spaces, a gym and a roof-top deck with an unbeatable view.

There are a variety of reasons students choose to live at Cornish Commons, here are five:

  1. Live in a community of students.
Being in school is challenging; so living with fellow students who appreciate the time and energy it takes to succeed in school is valuable. Building connections with fellow residents allows students to exchange information and resources to support them along the way.
  2. Be neighbors with companies like Amazon, Nordstrom, Group Health and more.
You never know who you’ll see in your local coffee shop or walking down the street. Being in the South Lake Union neighborhood puts you in close proximity with major companies and their employees who work there.
  3. Skip the daily cooking.
Residents of Cornish Commons get to enjoy meals at the dining center, Nellie’s Café, which saves them time and energy shopping for and preparing food. However, if you prefer to cook, a limited number of two-person suites with kitchens are available.
  4. Live only blocks from the CityU campus.
Cornish Commons is a few short blocks from campus, so you won’t have to worry about getting stuck in traffic or trying to find a parking spot. Simply walk out your front door and down the street to class, the library, study spaces and more.
  5. Soak in all Seattle has to offer.
The city has a great deal to offer including award-winning restaurants, exceptional music, trendy shops, premier sporting events and more. Since Cornish Commons is centrally located, residents can easily walk to numerous local attractions. In addition, multiple bus stops and the nearby Westlake Station make commuting around the city via public transit a breeze.

New residents are welcomed every quarter. Learn more about living at Cornish Commons and contact housing@cityu.edu for more information.
