Private Educational Loans
Before considering private funding, you should apply for federal loans. If your program isn't eligible for federal financial
aid, you might want to look into private funding through a bank, credit union or other lending institution. These loans are similar
to government-sponsored loans, but will often require credit checks and/or a co-signer.
Contact one of these lending institutions to learn more about private education loans:
You will need to contact the lenders directly in order to obtain any additional information and to apply for a Private
Education Loan. Once you have completed an application with your individual lender, a loan certification will be sent to
the City University of Seattle Financial Aid Office. In order for the Financial Aid Office to be able to certify your loan
application, you must complete a Private Loan Financial Aid Data Sheet/Planner (if you didn’t qualify for federal loans);
and return it to the Financial Aid Office. A Financial Aid Academic Planner is NOT a loan application.
