International Student Scholarship
Washington State International Student Transfer Scholarship
City University of Seattle is making available 40 tuition scholarships each year in the amount of $3,000 to new transfer
F-1 students from Washington State institutions in good standing (need to be transferable in SEVIS without status violation) that have no
prior application with or attendance at CityU.
Scholarships in this category are awarded to applicants that are able to demonstrate how earning a CityU degree will impact their future
career/life plans, their involvement in the wider community and applicant demonstrates satisfactory academic performance.
Application Requirements include:
- General Application Form
- Transcript showing a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 or passing for ESL studies.
- Essay: Describe how your studies at CityU will help you achieve your future goals.
- Community Involvement Statement: Describe your participation in non-academic activities, specifically those impacting the larger community (i.e. volunteer, student leadership roles, and extracurricular activities).
New International Student Scholarship
City University of Seattle is making available 20 tuition scholarships each year in the amount of $3,000 to new applicants from outside
of the US who have never applied to or attended CityU (i.e. students who list their present address as an address outside of the US and who
receive an 'initial attendance' I-20 for a new entry into the US). Students who are conditionally admitted to an academic program qualify;
however, the tuition discount can only be applied towards academic classes (and not ESL classes).
Scholarships in this category are awarded to applicants that are able to demonstrate how earning a CityU degree will impact their future
career/life plans, their involvement in the wider community and applicant demonstrates satisfactory academic performance.

Student Ambassador Scholarship
City University of Seattle is making available 4 scholarships each year which include a one-year (fall/winter/spring/summer quarter) part-time
on-campus volunteer/employment position with one free staff benefit class per quarter with an expected time involvement of 50 hours per
quarter. It is available to applicants who:
- Must be a new transfer student from a Washington State CCTC.
- Must have the recommendation of Director/Transfer Advisor at applicants Washington State Community or Technical College.
- Must be a transfer F-1 student in good standing (need to be transferable in SEVIS without status violation).
- Must demonstrate increasing leadership roles during high school and college career.
Application Requirements include:
- General Application Form
- Transcript showing a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Essay: Describe how your studies at CityU will help you achieve your future goals.
- Community Involvement Statement: Describe your leadership experiences in both academic and community roles (i.e. volunteer, student leadership roles, extracurricular activities).
- Recommendation letter from advisor at transfer institution.
- Interview with ISO team.
CityU International Student Economic Hardship Scholarship
City University of Seattle is making available 12 tuition scholarships each year in the amount of $3,000 to current CityU international
students who have successfully completed a minimum of three consecutive quarters of full-time study in a Bachelor or Master's degree
program at CityU (ESL students do not qualify).
Scholarships in this category are awarded to applicants that demonstrate an economic hardship outside of their immediate control.
This scholarship can only be awarded once to an individual.
Application Requirements include:
- General Application Form
- Transcript showing a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate or 3.0 for graduate study.
- Essay: Describe your current economic hardship and how this scholarship will help you achieve your educational goals. Submit supporting documentation regarding your financial situation with the scholarship application.
Information for All Scholarships
International student scholarship applications are reviewed and scholarships are awarded four times each year.
Applications must be post-marked by the deadlines below:
- Fall Quarter Attendance (October): September 15
- Winter Quarter Attendance (January): December 15
- Spring Quarter Attendance (April): March 15
- Summer Quarter Attendance (July): June 15
Applicants will be notified of awards by:
- Fall Quarter Application: September 30
- Winter Quarter Application: December 30
- Spring Quarter Application: March 30
- Summer Quarter Application: June 30
