Commencement Preparation

The following are a list of detailed instructions for participation in the commencement ceremony. Please make sure to complete the following steps in the allotted timelines:

Apply for Graduation Online or Turn in Degree Audit Application

Students planning to attend the 2015 commencement should apply for graduation online, via their Student Center page on the CityU portal (My.CityU), or submit a degree audit application and the $100 fee by February 15, 2015. Applications received by that date ensure that evaluations for eligibility will be completed in plenty of time for the student to make adequate preparations for Commencement. If you wish to participate in this year's Commencement and miss the February 15th deadline, apply online or send in the Degree Audit Application as soon as possible thereafter.

Our commencement ceremony is held annually in the month of June. Students who completed degree requirements at the conclusion of the preceding summer, fall, winter or spring quarters are eligible to participate. A student who by the end of the Spring Quarter (June 30) is within two courses of fulfilling all degree requirements may also participate in that year’s Commencement.

Students who have completed the academic requirements for a degree but who have outstanding financial obligations will not be prevented from participating in Commencement; however, no diploma or transcript will be issued to such students until their financial account has been cleared.

Bachelor's and master's degree students who may be eligible to receive honors and wear an honor cord at Commencement should read the graduation Honors reference sheet, and then, if appropriate, should contact the Registrar's Office.

For questions or more information on the graduation process in general, email us.

Confirm Attendance

If you are planning on attending this year’s commencement ceremony, please confirm your desire to attend or email your confirmation of attendance no later than May 20, 2015. Please include your name, student ID number, and degree that you will receive within the body of the email. Students who apply/confirm after April 21, 2015 may not have their name printed in the Commencement Brochure.
