City University of Seattle's undergraduate degree programs are open to applicants over the age of 18 who hold a high school or GED diploma. Admission requirements to graduate programs generally require that students hold a baccalaureate degree or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution.

In keeping with the university's mission, and its underlying principle that the opportunity to learn should be open to anyone with the desire to achieve, applicants are not required to complete standardized testing prior to entry or acceptance to the university.

Admission to most University programs occurs throughout the academic year. Specialized graduate degree programs in education and counseling have additional admissions requirements and limited entry. Please consult a University Admissions Advisor for more information.

In order to apply to the University, simply:

• Contact a NCPDLP Advisor at navy@cityu.edu or
  1.800.345.9056 to select an educational objective;
• Submit the General City University of Seattle Application and $80 non-refundable application fee;
• Request that your official SMART transcript and other academic institutional transcripts are sent to the City University of Seattle Registrar, 11900 NE First St, Bellevue, WA 98005.

Upon receipt of your General City University of Seattle Application, non-refundable application fee, and official transcripts, the University Registrar will provide an official evaluation of transfer credits and issue a Degree Program Plan. All applicants are provisionally accepted upon receipt of the General City University of Seattle Application and application fee and eligible to enroll in two courses while an official evaluation occurs.

City University of Seattle grants academic credit and advanced standing toward its degree, for:

• Appropriate courses satisfactorily completed at other recognized colleges and universities;
• Acceptable scores on standardized examinations in college-level subjects;
• Completion of formal non-collegiate sponsored instructional programs and military schools as evaluated by the American Council in Education (ACE) and other agencies;
• Credit Earned at institutions with an approved Articulation Agreement with City University of Seattle; and
• Evaluation of prior experiential learning at the post-secondary level.

City University of Seattle may accept up to 135 approved quarter hour credits from recognized four-year colleges and universities toward fulfillment of baccalaureate degree requirements. Of these credits, 45 must clearly be:

• Upper division credits and directly equivalent to City University of Seattle courses; or
• Approved upper-division professional courses.

City University of Seattle participates in several nationally recognized standardized testing programs. Examinations that duplicate lower-division coursework previously transferred for credit will not be accepted.

The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) affords students the to opportunity to obtain credits in a variety of college subjects, as well as in a series of general examinations, which cover broad areas of general collegiate education. Credits earned through the CLEP program are applicable to lower division requirements only.

City University of Seattle will award credit for the General Examinations according to the following standards:

City University of Seattle will award credit for the CLEP Subject Examinations if the earned score is at least equivalent to the minimum score recommended by the ACE Guide.

American College Testing Proficiency Exam Program (ACT-PEP) examinations are available in many area of arts and sciences, business, criminal justice, education, health and nursing. The minimum grades for which credit may be granted by City University of Seattle are:

College Entrance Examination Board Advanced Placement Examinations (CEEB-AP) provides examinations in areas such as biology, chemistry, classics, and European history. Exams are graded on a fivepoint scale in which 1 is the lowest and 5 the highest. Students must achieve a minimum score of 3 to receive credit at City University of Seattle.

Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) in addition to providing educational support activities, provides the following examinations for which City University of Seattle awards credits:

• The High School equivalent;
• DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST);
• End-of-Course Tests; and
• Subject Examinations.
